Not only do they inspire awe, but they cause me to reflect and adopt a new perspective on almost everything.
Additionally, blue holds a special place in the history of woodblock prints. In the early 18th century, Johann Konrad Dippel and Johann Jacob Diesbach accidentally invented what is considered the first artificial pigment: a new kind of blue (Prussian blue). It became highly prized in Japan for its resilience, and iconic artists like Hokusai and Hiroshige used it to create their masterworks.
I’ve been collecting and researching Japanese woodblock prints for the past few years, and I opened this shop to share what I've learned and encourage others to enjoy the work as much as I do.
